THE EXTRAS

Dunk and Darque never got a real ending, or middle, or even a beginning, really. but I did draw a few things for it I like quite a bit. and since I'm so nice and cool, I'll put it all here as a sort of long gallery thing, plus commentary.

This is a reference sheet for Darque that I made, since his design was just detailed enough to forget things. I don't think I made one for Dunk, but Dunk was simple enough that I wasn't worried about forgetting things.

At some point a few pages in, I foolishly thought that the first page should match the standards of the pages after it and thus redrew it. I kept this out of the main pages, because the original is better in hindsight.

however, the same does not hold true for page 11, which I redrew and it looked way better. this is the original, which I thought looked too flat. moral of the story? sometimes redrawing things pays off and sometimes it's not something you should worry about. only you can determine which is which in the moment.

moving on, lets look at some more reference images, wow! this guy appeared as a foreboding silhouette in a few pages, and he was meant to be the main villain and also Darques brother. he never had a proper introduction, but I liked him enough to draw him a bunch, which ironically slowed down me making comics.

Ahhh, the joys of art.

In addition to that guy, I also designed up some minor villains to work for him. Hey, we've seen cat guy before! he actually showed up in the comic! good for him.

As the comic was improvised, I was very self-indulgent with the designs here. Nowadays though, I look at them and think they could use some variety shapewise. maybe I'll redo em one of these days..

Technically I drew this awhile after Dunk N' Darque got shelved, but it's in the file with everything else so I'll share it. Basically I took another go at drawing the jester because in the inital lineup I drew him hunched over for some reason, and I wanted to see if I could reuse him. hey, that guy on the right looks familiar..

This is actually way more recent than everything else. I brought the boys back out for a bit because I had recently read through the Naruto manga and had some things I was annoyed about.
